''MULTIPLE AMPUTEES''

Year: 2017
In this work, created with the oil on canvas technique and measuring 40x50 cm, Maestro Raffaele Ciotola addresses the theme of human fragility and resilience with deep poetic and tragic intensity. Through a composition that distorts space and form, the artist explores the condition of "multiple amputees," transforming physical pain into an iconography of suffering and, at the same time, absolute dignity.
The central figure, recalling Christological iconography, is inserted into an almost surreal architectural structure, where physical absences and amputations are never presented as voids, but as spaces of a new identity that recomposes itself. Maestro Ciotola succeeds in conferring a secular sacredness to the tormented body, elevating it to a symbol of a struggle that traverses the flesh to reach the consciousness. The mastery in modeling volumes and the skillful use of shadows make this work a powerful warning on the human condition: an invitation to look beyond impairment to recognize the irrepressible strength of the spirit. It is a testimony of great impact, confirming Maestro Ciotola's ability to investigate the shadow zones of existence with rare sensitivity and a stylistic signature dense with meaning.
